Here is yet another art happening in Charlotte, NC: a new exhibit entitled
Vintage Architectural Art features a collection of prints and drawings of historical structures originally preserved by Hugh E. White (1869-1939), an architect with Fort Mill, SC and Gaston, NC roots.
The exhibit is presented by Kugler Studio in uptown/downtown Charlotte (the historic Latta Arcade building at 320 South Tryon Street), and a public reception will be held at
5 pm on November 18.
Vintage Architectural Art is not just a one-time exhibit. Ken Beebe of Kugler Studio distributes "vintage architectural drawings, etchings and engravings" through a web site by the same name. According to the
web site, the organization is a "specialized repository and distributor of museum quality reproductions and originals of these significant and artistic works through best practice preservation techniques and personal marketing."
Mr. White's collection of drawings feature local buildings that he and his firm designed in the early 1900s in addition to drawings and sketches of U.S government buildings, European chapels and cathedrals, and ancient edifices of Rome.
This exhibit celebrates architectural drawings and a wonderful and historical art form!
